Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has unveiled the HMD Fusion, a smartphone that the company claims is its most advanced device yet. The new device is based on its industrial-style design with support for modular Smart Outfits, which will be available later this year.

Among the accessories that the company has already announced for HMD Fusion are a built-in ring light for better selfies and a game controller that will make it easier to play games on the go.

In addition, the company has already announced an accessory that will add wireless charging support and even a scanner to the smartphone. The device will also have IP54 or IP68 protection against water and dust with the optional accessory.

These accessories will be attached with six special pins, each of which will change the hardware and software of the smartphone and open up new features, interfaces, and enhanced performance. They will become available later this year.

In addition, all of these accessories are open source, and developers who want to create something of their own for their smartphones have development tools available that can be downloaded from the company’s official website.

Returning to the HMD Fusion itself, the smartphone has a 6.56-inch display with a resolution of 760 × 1612 pixels with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a peak brightness of 600 nits.

The company also talked about the device’s cameras. In front, it has a 50-megapixel selfie camera that supports slow motion and gestures. At the back, the smartphone has a dual camera, the main one with 108 megapixels, and the second is a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Inside, the device will have an 8-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage with support for up to 1 TB of memory cards. The 5000 mAh battery, according to the company, will provide up to 65 hours of operation with a charging power of 33 W.

In addition, HMD Fusion, like any other smartphone from HMD, is designed to meet the requirements for self-repair. The device is equipped with second-generation repairability, which will allow owners to replace the screen, battery, and other parts on their own.

HMD also says that this smartphone is “the pinnacle of technological innovation at an affordable price”. Despite this, the exact price has not yet been announced, but it is known that it will appear in Ukraine in September.
