Apple plans to switch the most affordable iPhone model to an OLED display. This was reported by Asia Nikkei.

According to a new report, this is the next generation iPhone SE. This confirms many previous rumors. After that, Apple will no longer produce smartphones with LCD panels.

This decision will hurt Japan Display and Sharp, as they were their suppliers, and neither of them produces OLED panels for smartphones.

Apple has already started placing orders for OLED displays for the next iPhone SE with China’s BOE and Korea’s LG.

By the way, Samsung currently supplies about half of the OLED panels needed for the iPhone, LG supplies 30%, and BOE supplies the remaining 20%.
