On Friday, August 30, the Brazilian Supreme Court ruled that X (formerly Twitter) will be banned in the country. If users use a VPN to access the blocked platform, they will face a fine of $8874 per day. This was reported by Times Now News.

This decision was made after Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes warned Elon Musk that X could be blocked in the country if he did not provide a legal representative by the end of the 24-hour period.

Company X failed to appoint a representative in Brazil within the prescribed period. The company has not had a representative since the beginning of August. Judge de Moraes noted that the ban on the social network will continue until a new representative is appointed.

The company, headed by Elon Musk, was aware of the impending ban and claimed that the blocking in Brazil would occur because X refused to comply with Moraes’ “illegal orders” to censor political opponents.

According to the company’s representatives, attempts to defend themselves in court were thwarted by Moraes, who allegedly threatened the Brazilian representative with imprisonment. He froze her accounts after she resigned.
