The South Korean police have launched an investigation into Telegram on suspicion of possible involvement in the distribution of pornographic diplomatic fakes. Reuters reports this with reference to the Yonhap news agency.

An investigation against Telegram on suspicion of facilitating sexual crimes was opened against the backdrop of the scandal over digital pornographic deepfakes involving South Korean women.

According to local media, such content is often found in chats on the platform.

By the way, on August 27, 2024, South Korean President Yun Seok-il announced tougher measures against Telegram after the scandal.

As you know, this is not the only investigation currently underway against Telegram. The EU is currently checking whether the platform concealed the number of its European users to avoid regulation under the Digital Services Act.

Also on August 24, it became known that Telegram founder Pavel Durov was detained in France. It later became known that he was facing 12 charges. He was soon released from custody.

However, Ukraine has decided to develop a new bill that will regulate Telegram in the country. The document should be registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by the end of September 2024.
