ChatGPT crosses 200 million weekly users mark
ChatGPT, OpenAI's chatbot, has reached 200 million weekly active users. This is twice as many as when the company last announced its results in November 2023. This is reported by Enagdet.
A company representative also confirmed in a comment to the media that API usage has also doubled since July. Among other things, the July release of the smaller GPT-4o language model contributed to this.
In addition to the significant increase in ChatGPT users, OpenAI also reports a doubling of revenues compared to last year. Sam Altman, the company's CEO, told employees this summer that annualized revenue, which takes monthly revenue and stretches it out over a year, reached $3.4 billion. At the end of 2023, the company reported $1.6 billion in revenue.
A little earlier, it was also reported that Apple and NVIDIA are in talks to invest in OpenAI in a new round of funding. The new series of investments may result in the ChatGPT producer being valued at more than $100 billion.
