A full-size modern remake of the classic 8-bit Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer created by Retro Games will soon appear on store shelves. It will be called The Spectrum, Tom’s Hardware reports.

Based on the iconic Spectrum 48K design, with rubber keys and a rainbow stripe, the computer will have 48 built-in games and allow you to easily download your own games via USB.

We found out about the device by accident: it appeared on the lists of Polish and British online stores in advance. The computer will go on sale on November 22, 2024, and will cost USD 99.

The Spectrum

Although The Spectrum doesn’t have any official product pages yet, packaging images and retailer listings reveal quite a bit of information. The computer will have HDMI and USB ports. It will use USB-C for power.

It will display images in 720 HD resolution and is compatible with PAL (50 Hz) and NTSC (60 Hz) screens. There is a mode for displaying images in 4:3 format, or with pixel scaling, and a built-in CRT filter.
