At Gamescom 2024, Samsung presented new gaming monitors, paying special attention to the Odyssey 3D model, which will allow owners to view 3D content without the need for separate glasses.
Odyssey 3D’s innovative light field display (LFD) technology creates realistic 3D images from 2D content using a lenticular lens on the front panel.
Combined with Eye Tracking and View Mapping technologies, Odyssey 3D delivers an optimized 3D experience without the need for separate 3D glasses. Eye Tracking tracks the movement of both eyes using the built-in stereo camera, while View Mapping continuously adjusts the image to improve depth perception.
Odyssey 3D can seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D modes depending on user preference. The 27″ and 37″ displays feature 4K resolution, a fast 1ms GTG response time, and a high 165Hz refresh rate.
In addition, the Odyssey 3D has an ergonomic design with a height-adjustable stand (HAS), tilt and swivel, FreeSync Premium (Pro X), one DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.1 ports. Among other things, this monitor received the Best of Innovation award in the Gaming & eSports category at CES 2024.
In addition to the 3D monitor, Samsung has also announced the expansion of its popular Odyssey OLED display lineup with conventional models, namely: Odyssey OLED G95SD, G93SD and G85SD. In addition, the Odyssey OLED G9 (model G95D) was named a CES Innovation Award winner in the Computer Peripherals and Accessories category at CES 2024.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 series (G95SD and G93SD) has a dual QHD resolution (5120 x 1,440) with an aspect ratio of 32:9, a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a gray-to-gray response time (GTG) of 0.03 ms.
The 34-inch Odyssey G8 (G85SD) has a QHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, 175Hz refresh rate, and the same 0.03ms response time. In addition, both monitors have a curvature of 1,800R and support for Smart Hub and Gaming Hub.
The new Odyssey OLED models feature Samsung’s patented OLED Safeguard technology to prevent burn-in and OLED Glare Free technology to minimize light reflection for a superior viewing experience.
