OpenAI has allowed corporate clients to use their company data to customize the GPT-4o artificial intelligence model. This was reported by Bloomberg.

Customization allows existing AI models to be trained with additional information about a specific type of task. For example, a skateboard company can modify an AI model to be used as a chatbot for customer service.

This feature is new for OpenAI’s flagship model – previously, such customization was not available for either the GPT-4o or GPT-4. However, the company has allowed users to customize its other models, including the GPT-4o mini, a cheaper and more simplified version of the GPT-4o.

To set up the model, clients have to upload their data to OpenAI’s servers. The company explains that training takes an average of an hour or two.

OpenAI also clarifies that initially, users will only be able to customize the model with textual data, not images or other content.
