The Acolyte series will not be renewed. It was decided not to extend the project in the Star Wars universe for a second season. It is reported by Deadline.

The Acolyte debuted on the Disney+ streaming service in June 2024. The first season of the series consisted of eight episodes, which ended more than a month ago.

The news that the project will not be developed comes as no surprise. The Acolyte received good reviews from critics (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), but it divided Star Wars fans, which affected the overall audience of the series.

The Acolyte had a good start on June 4 with two episodes, garnering 4.8 million views on the streaming service in the first day. This was the biggest premiere of the series on Disney+ this year.

After five days, the number of views exceeded 11.1 million worldwide. The series also debuted in the top 10 original series according to Nielsen in the week of its premiere at No. 7 (488 million minutes of viewing). The following week, it moved up to #6.

But The Acolyte failed to maintain this momentum and left the top 10 in the third week. In the end, it still took tenth place in the ranking after the final episode with 335 million minutes.
