James Cuda, CEO and co-founder of Procreate , answered frequently asked questions about artificial intelligence. In particular, he answered the question whether the company plans to use users’ robots to train AI and add new features.

His answer was unequivocal: “I really hate generative AI.” Kuda goes on to say that Procreate will never have generative AI features because real art is created by people.

“I don’t like what’s happening in the industry, and I don’t like what it’s doing to artists. We’re not gonna be introducing any generative AI into our products. Our products are always designed and developed with the idea that a human will be creating something. You know, we don’t exactly know where this story’s gonna go or how it ends but we believe that we’re on the right path supporting human creativity”, Cuda said.

Procreate has also launched a separate page on its official website expressing the company’s position. Among other things, it states that generative AI is a wrong way to develop machine learning.

The page also repeats the thesis that there will be no generative AI in the company’s products, that users’ work belongs only to them, and that their activity in the programs is not tracked.

Procreate is a popular graphic editor that was released for iPhone and iPad in 2011. It has everything you need to create sketches, drawings, illustrations, and animations. Since then, the programs have received many updates and improvements to give users as many creative opportunities as possible.
