Arm Holdings, known for its ARM architecture for chips, is working on a new graphics processor to compete with NVIDIA and Intel. It is reported that hundreds of chip and software engineers are working on the new product in the Israeli office. This was reported by Tom’s Hardware.

The new GPU is being created with a focus on gaming, but the possibility of using this development for artificial intelligence data centers is not excluded. So far, the company has declined to comment on these reports.

Details about the new GPU are very limited right now. It is not yet known whether this will be a new discrete graphics card that could work with ARM and x86 processors, or an integrated GPU for the company’s own chips.

Arm already has experience in developing such products for mobile devices. The company offers Immortalis and more affordable Mali GPUs, which are widely used in smartphones.

If the company goes with a discrete graphics card, it would make sense, given the rumors about the launch of desktop computers with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chip.
