SpaceX has announced a unique mission that will see the first manned space flight above the Earth’s poles. This is stated in the company’s message.

The mission is called Fram2 and will be launched in late 2024. Its crew will consist of four people: entrepreneur and mission commander Chun Wang (Malta), vehicle commander Yannicke Mikkelsen (Norway), pilot Eric Phillips (Australia) and mission specialist Rabea Rogge (Germany).

This will be the first space flight for each of the crew members. For 3-5 days, they will observe the polar regions of the Earth at a distance of 425-450 km.

During the Fram2 mission, the team will monitor atmospheric phenomena such as Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement (STEVE). This is a wide arc in the sky that stretches for hundreds or thousands of kilometers.

The crew will also work on a variety of studies to better understand the impact of space flight on the human body. Among other things, the first X-ray images of a person in space will be taken.

This is expected to help develop the tools needed to prepare humanity for future long-duration space flights.
