Motherboard makers Asus and MSI have released beta versions of the BIOS with a microcode patch that caused malfunctions in 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors. This was reported by The Verge.

Asus has released BIOS beta versions on the ROG forum for various Z790 motherboards. They are also usually published on the Asus support pages a few days after they appear on the forum.

MSI BIOS updates can be found on the support pages of individual motherboards:

If you are using a non-BM motherboard or if a BIOS microcode update is not currently available for your motherboard, make sure you have the latest BIOS update installed.

Even if they don’t contain an Intel patch, the latest BIOS updates should already contain Intel-recommended power profiles, which can reduce the chance of damage to your chip.

Intel really needs this update to fix the problems right the first time. The investigation of the failures showed that all processors that experienced problems need to be replaced. The company extended the warranty on the processors for 2 years.
