Foxconn, which is responsible for the production of the iPhone 16, has hired another 50,000 workers to meet the demand for Apple’s upcoming smartphones. This was reported by 9to5Mac.

Foxconn’s factory in Zhengzhou, China, is responsible for producing about 80% of all iPhones. In order to recruit enough workers and produce enough iPhone 16s in time for its release in September 2024, the company even raised base salaries and bonuses.

At the end of July, Foxconn began posting vacancies on relevant websites and social media, offering potential employees a salary of about $3.5 per hour. In addition, bonuses were also raised from $835 to about $1000.

Earlier, it was also reported that Apple expects the demand for the iPhone 16 to be higher due to the new Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence features.

Of the available models, the new features will be available only on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, so the company expects more users with older smartphone models that do not receive Apple Intelligence to want to upgrade this year.

Another factor behind the high expectations is that the Chinese market is showing signs of recovery. For some time, iPhone sales in the country have been falling, but recently they have shown positive growth.
