Logitech does not intend to create an “eternal mouse” with a subscription. This was announced by the company’s head of communications Nicole Kenyon in a statement available to The Verge.

“There are no plans for a subscription mouse,” she stated.

Logitech released this information in response to the information of the company’s CEO Hanneke Faber, who recently announced a potential interest in creating a subscription mouse.

“The forever mouse, I think, is one of the things that we’d like to get to,” Hanneke Faber said earlier.

This was not a new product announcement, as the company had not officially announced such intentions. However, the CEO’s words did not go unreacted to – people were outraged by the idea that Logitech could potentially plan to make them pay for ordinary computer peripherals.

“…the mouse mentioned is not an actual or planned product but a peek into provocative internal thinking on future possibilities for more sustainable consumer electronics,” said Nicole Kenyon.

Now we just have to wait to make sure that Logitech has no plans to create an “eternal mouse” with a subscription. Or, on the contrary, that such intentions exist in the long run.
