Microsoft has released a new support document describing the upcoming Energy Saver feature that will replace the current Battery Saver. This is reported by Windows Latest.

This mode will turn on by default when the battery reaches a certain level, but you can also turn it on manually. Power saving is achieved by reducing computer performance.

One noticeable change is that Energy Saver gives you less freedom to customize your laptop’s performance. When the feature is enabled, you won’t be able to select a performance mode or the longest battery life, as you can now with Battery Saver enabled.

Another difference is that Energy Saver also disables transparency effects in windows, while Battery Saver does not. The new feature limits the synchronization of background applications more, including disabling OneNote, OneDrive, and Phone Link synchronization.

Probably the most important change will be that this mode can be enabled even when operating from the mains to consume less and save some money on electricity bills, or, for example, when operating from a backup power source.

Energy Saver will appear in the 24H2 update for Windows 11.
