Today, July 29, 2024, is the last day of the Xbox 360 game store. The console was launched back in 2005, 19 years ago. Former Xbox CEO Larry Hryb wrote in X that “all good things must come to an end.”
Almost 19 years on, all good things must come to an end. We are in the final 24 hours (or so) of the Xbox 360 Marketplace.
It was my pleasure sharing all the thousands of marketplace sales and updates I’ve given over the years.
Thank for having fun, playing fair and filing…

Larry Hryb, who also goes by the nickname “Major Nelson,” has become the true face of Xbox 360. Hryb served as the director of programming for Xbox Live from 2005 to 2023. He hosted the Major Nelson Radio podcast for a long time, where he talked to Xbox developers and revealed many secrets of internal development. In addition, he constantly monitored discounts in the Xbox 360 store.
Until now, Microsoft has supported Xbox 360 online services, and owners of the outdated console could buy games even with the current Xbox Series S | X.
According to the company, users can still download games already in the library to their console, but it will no longer be possible to purchase new ones.
More than 1000 different games have been released on Xbox 360 throughout the console’s support history. On average, each console owner has purchased 7.5 games. And more than 70 million consoles were sold.
