OpenAI has announced the testing of SearchGPT. This is a prototype of a new search engine that works on the basis of artificial intelligence combined with information from the Internet.

The company claims that SearchGPT will be able to provide users with “fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.”

“We’re launching (testing – ed.) to a small group of users and publishers to get feedback. While this prototype is temporary, we plan to integrate the best of these features directly into ChatGPT in the future,” OpenAI reported.

The company adds that expanding the dialog capabilities of OpenAI AI models with real-time network information will allow users to find the data they need faster and easier.

“SearchGPT will quickly and directly respond to your questions with up-to-date information from the web while giving you clear links to relevant sources. You’ll be able to ask follow-up questions, like you would in a conversation with a person, with the shared context building with each query…” accentuated in OpenAI.

The company also noted that SearchGPT is dedicated to search and is not related to the training of basic OpenAI generative AI models. Websites can appear in search results even if they have refused to train generative AI.

Those interested in trying out SearchGPT’s capabilities can sign up for a waiting list.
