Rumors about the successor to Chromecast with Google TV, which was released four years ago, started circulating back in the spring of this year, and now the name of the new Google media player has finally been revealed, and even its first images have appeared.

Thus, the player will be called Google TV Streamer, and the manufacturer decided to abandon the traditional form factor of a miniature HDMI dongle for the Chromecast line: it will have a more traditional look of a small oval-shaped “box”.

Judging by the only image available at the moment, where you can fully see the player’s body, it will be thin and have a flat top. It looks like a wireless charger, for example, and there is already speculation as to whether it will support the ability to send the music being played from the Pixel Tablet using the Tap to Cast feature. Two cables are schematically connected to the Google TV Streamer at the back, most likely power and HDMI.

Google TV Streamer: a new media player from Google that will replace Chromecast with Google TV

The remote control has an updated design: in general, it is very similar to that of Chromecast with Google TV, but there are some minor differences. The main one is that the volume control has been moved from the right side of the remote to the front panel, which has led to some changes in the location of other buttons. The voice input button will also be labeled differently: it will get rid of the Google Assistant label and will have a clearer image of the microphone.
