Netflix intends to release a multiplayer game based on the Squid Game series. This became known during the announcement of the company's quarterly results, Engadget reports.
The game's release date is planned to coincide with the premiere of the second season of the South Korean TV sensation, which is due to be released later this year.
It is not yet known what the style of the game will be, but it is likely to resonate with the children's survival games played by the series' participants.
The South Korean series Squid Game was filmed in the survival genre. It premiered on the Netflix streaming service in the fall of 2021. The project quickly gained worldwide popularity and increased audience demand for streaming Asian series.
Earlier it was reported that Netflix added more than 8 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2024. At the end of June, the total number of Netflix subscribers in the world exceeded 277 million.
