PlayStation 5 update blocks Cronus Zen cheat device

After the latest PlayStation 5 update, owners of the Cronus Zen gamepad began to complain that the console no longer allows them to connect the device, reports The Verge.

Cronus has informed us that they are aware of the problem, but they do not have any options for how to solve it, except not to install the update 24.01-08.60.00, which is not mandatory.

The device itself is labeled as a “gamepad emulator,” but cheaters have started using Cronus Zen to change the digital settings of their controllers, such as reducing recoil and setting macros. Some have gone as far as using the keyboard and mouse on the console with the Zen.

Sony has not yet commented on the situation and it is not known whether the PlayStation 5 update was aimed at blocking the cheating device or whether it was a mistake.

It would not be a surprise if Sony did deliberately start blocking such devices. Earlier, Xbox took measures to ban the use of unauthorized accessories on consoles.
