Almost half of job seekers use AI tools to improve their resumes. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by Canva in partnership with Sago, according to FOX Business.

The study involved 5,000 HR managers and 5,000 job seekers in the US, UK, India, Germany, Spain, France, Mexico, and Brazil.

The survey found that about 45% of job seekers have used generative AI to create, update, or improve their resumes. This figure was highest in India (74%) and Brazil (50%), and lowest in France (33%) and Spain (34%).

It was also found that hiring managers are positive about the use of AI by candidates who want to make their resumes more creative.

90% of respondents said that the use of generative AI in resumes is acceptable. 46% of respondents believe that it should be used minimally to complement the candidate’s ideas and content, and 44% believe that it can be used to create any content.

“We know that job seeking can be really hard, it can be really daunting, so if there’s something that can make you feel better about that experience, then I think that folks should lean into that,” said Amy Schultz, global head of talent acquisition at Canva.

Of those job seekers who used AI on their resume, about 56% said they were “very satisfied” with the way their resume looked, compared to 33% of those who did not.

The majority of hiring managers (67%) said they can tell if a candidate has used generative AI all or most of the time. Therefore, candidates should check the results of AI tools to avoid surprises when it comes time for the interview.
