Call of Duty’s official Twitter/X account has announced that the game’s anti-cheat system Ricochet will close the game if it detects the use of cheats to target players with a mouse and keyboard, writes IGN.

The notification includes such games as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Auto-aiming systems for players with a mouse and keyboard are a real scourge of online shooters. They give PC players, who already have an advantage over console players, additional bonuses. For years, Call of Duty players have been using unauthorized third-party hardware, such as XIM or Cronus Zen, to take advantage of aiming assistance and reduce recoil when using a mouse and keyboard. Last year, Activision said that Ricochet would detect their use and repeat offenders would receive a ban. It is believed that this latest Ricochet improvement is aimed at the popular reWASD program, which allows you to create virtual controllers that seem to replace the mouse and keyboard, convincing the game to enable aiming assistance.
