The development of further updates for the “children’s” real-time strategy game Minecraft Legends, which was released only 9 months ago, has been suspended. However, technical support for the game will continue, writes Eurogamer.

Real-time strategy elements are not well received by children, who make up the majority of Minecraft’s audience. This was clear from the beginning, but still, Xbox Game Studios and Blackbird Interactive spent five years and a lot of money to prove it experimentally. It doesn’t work.

Earlier, in September 2023. Mojang Studios announced that it would cease further development of Minecraft Dungeons, although the game seems to have received some attention from players.

As a reminder, Minecraft Legends was developed by Blackbird Interactive, a studio created by Relic Entertainment veterans and known for Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Currently, Blackbird Interactive is preparing to release the real-time space strategy game Homeworld 3.
