Last year, at CES, gaming laptops increased in display size. Then 16- and 18-inch models appeared. Today, ASUS continues to develop the performance and efficiency of its most powerful lines.

The new ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 models in the top end configurations will offer users Intel Core i9-14900HX processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 discrete graphics cards. Both chips are covered with a thermal interface using Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, and the overall cooling system consists of three Tri-Fan fans.

The flagships can also be pleased with ROG Nebula HDR displays with Mini-LED backlighting, which is now available in the 18-inch version. The resolution of such matrices is 2560×1600 pixels, and the refresh rate is 240 Hz. Peak brightness can reach 1 100 cd/m².

Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5-gigabit Ethernet are provided for network connectivity, and Thunderbolt 4 is available for demanding gadgets. The battery capacity is 90 Wh, and there are still two power supply options with different capacities and sizes for charging.

Also, the metal case with a familiar design has an updated RGB backlight called ROG Slash. Custom panels on the topcase also remain.

The slightly simpler versions of ROG Strix G16 and G18 also have flagship processors, but in the maximum configuration, the buyer can only get NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 video. Such models do not come with more than 32 GB of RAM and a 2-terabyte drive (leaving the user with a free slot for an additional card).

At the moment, Strix G models do not include options with Mini-LED backlighting, and the maximum brightness of such screens is 500 cd/m². At the same time, the same resolution, aspect ratio, and refresh rate are maintained.

ROG Strix G16 and G18 come in two color options: Volt Green, which also has the new ROG Slash backlight, and Eclipse Gray, which does not (there will be a low-profile pattern in place of the diodes).
