Continuing to improve the capabilities of cameras, OPPO has taken another interesting step. Its new flagship – OPPO Find X7 Ultra – will offer the user four cameras in the main unit. And interestingly, this time two of them are periscopic.

The Endgadget publication tells about the new product.

So the general name of the whole system is HyperTone Camera System. Hasselblad specialists helped to work on all the cameras, and each of the sensors has a resolution of 50 MP. The main wide-angle sensor is Sony LYT-900 (the second generation of the inch sensor). This time, it has improved power consumption and improved thermal management. The aperture value has remained at ƒ/1.8, there is optical image stabilization, a focal length of 23 mm and 50% reduced lens reflections. The ultra-wide-angle camera is the Sony LYT-600 (1/1.95 inch, 14 mm, 4 mm focus).

Accordingly, the next two cameras are periscopic telephoto cameras. The first one will offer 3x zoom. It is built with a Sony IMX980, which means it is “almost three times larger” than its competitors. It also has a focal length equivalent to 65 mm, ƒ/2.6, Prism OIS stabilization, and can focus from 25 cm. It will come in handy for portraits and subject photography.

Finally, there’s the Sony IMX858 with a 6x optical zoom (135mm equivalent). Here, the aperture value is ƒ/4.3, there is also Prism OIS, and you can focus from 35 cm. Together with digital zoom (up to 12×), the smartphone can provide a focal length range of 14 to 270 mm.

Moreover, HyperTone Image Engine (developed by professional photographers and colorists) is used for image processing. New algorithms will help improve the HDR look, avoid overexposure and excessive image sharpening. Some existing models from the Find N and Reno lines will also receive this engine.

Other improvements include: consistent quality across the entire zoom range, especially in low light conditions; Hasselblad Portrait Mode with “cinematic bokeh with foreground and background depth”; Hasselblad Master Mode (controlling saturation, contrast, sharpness, etc., as on the Hasselblad X2D 100C); and RAW MAX (13 stops of dynamic range, 16 bits in BT2020 color space), which will be available with later updates.

Also, the flagship OPPO Find X7 Ultra will delight you with a 6.82-inch AMOLED display (3168×1440, 1600 cd/m² with local peaks up to 4500 in HDR playback, 120 Hz, improved performance with wet hands), IP68 water and dust protection, a switch for notification modes (or privacy mode), and color options for Ocean Blue, Sepia Brown and Tailored Black with vegan leather on the back.

The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, has 12-16 GB of RAM and 256-512 GB of storage. The case also managed to fit a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 50W induction charging, or 100W via cable (SuperVOOC).

OPPO plans to sell the flagship only in China. The smartphone will cost from $845 to $990, and the sales will start on January 12. At the end of March, a separate version of OPPO Find X7 Ultra with satellite support will also appear, but its price has not yet been disclosed.

The manufacturer can now offer a simpler version – OPPO Find X7. Such a device will have a slightly smaller display (6.78 inches, 2780×1264 pixels), MediaTek Dimensity 9300, also from 12 to 16 GB of RAM, storage from 256 GB to 1 TB, and will not have a notification mode switch. Color options: Ocean Blue, Sepia Brown, as well as purple and black variants with glass backs.

Another place to simplify such a model is the cameras. There will be only 3 of them: a wide-angle 50 MP (Sony LYT-T808, 1/1.4 inch, ƒ/2.0, OIS), an ultra-wide-angle 50 MP (ƒ/2.0, 119°), and a 64-megapixel periscopic telephoto (3×, ƒ/2.6; Prism OIS; 1/2 inch).

OPPO Find X7 will cost from $560 to $700.
