Brazil passed a resolution written by ChatGPT. But no one knew about it

In Brazil, lawmakers passed a resolution written by ChatGPT. However, they did not know at first that the document was developed using artificial intelligence, writes The Verge.

The situation is similar in the city of Porto Alegre. In October of this year, the city passed a resolution that prohibits charging people for replacing water meters if they have been stolen.

The document was submitted for consideration by City Council member Ramiro Rosario. According to AP, he presented it to 35 colleagues, but told them about the origin of the resolution only after it came into force.

According to Ramiro Rosario, he deliberately kept it a secret and hoped to “provoke debate.”

“If I had revealed it before, the proposal certainly wouldn’t even have been taken to a vote,” the politician explained. “It would be unfair to the population to run the risk of the project not being approved simply because it was written by artificial intelligence.”

The resolution was adopted unanimously and came into force on November 23. Porto Alegre, with a population of 1.3 million, is the second largest city in southern Brazil.
