The Formal 1 2013 Mercedes W04 chassis No. 4, in which seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton won his first Grand Prix with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, was sold at Sotheby’s for $18.8 million, reports Yahoo News.

This is almost $4 million more than the price paid a year ago for the 2003 Ferrari F2003, in which Michael Schumacher won his sixth title. The price for the 2003 Ferrari F2003 was only $14.9 million.

And the most expensive Formal 1 car remains the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R, in which Juan Manuel Fangio won his second title in 1954. In 2013, $29.65 million was paid for this car.

Interestingly, the most expensive car ever sold is also a Mercedes – the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé. In 2022, this car was purchased at auction for a fantastic $135 million. This is a street version of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR (W 196 S), which exists in only two copies, which competed in the 1955 World Sports Car Championship and is a development of the same formula Mercedes-Benz W196.
