Nintendo has announced that it is working on a feature film based on The Legend of Zelda video game, reports The Verge.

The film will be directed by Wes Ball, best known for the The Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad.

The production dates have not yet been announced. But Shigeru Miyamoto noted that work on the film is ongoing.

“It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it,” he wrote.

According to Nintendo, the Japanese company will co-finance the project with Sony. At the same time, Nintendo will cover more than 50% of the costs.

Earlier this year, there were rumors that Illumination was collaborating with Nintendo on The Legend of Zelda movie. However, the studio’s CEO Chris Meledandri did not confirm this information.
