The Association Ukraine Automobile Industry has released interesting statistics on sales of electric vehicles in Ukraine in October this year. Thus, in one month of autumn, 4,493 electric vehicles (new and used, passenger cars and commercial vehicles) were added to the total number of vehicles in Ukraine.

That is, about 2.8 times more than in October 2022, and this is a fairly consistent trend. Since the beginning of 2023, a total of 28.7 thousand additional electric vehicles have appeared in Ukraine in 10 months, which is 2.7 times more than in 10 months of 2022.

October’s sales leader among new electric vehicles was expected: with 366 units sold, the Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover is the top seller; however, it is likely that the majority of them are Chinese versions with a fairly low price.

The rest of the chasers of the “top five” new electric vehicles are far behind. Thus, in October 2023, Ukraine sold: Toyota BZ4X – 65 units; Honda e – 63 units; Volkswagen ID.6 – 44 units; Audi Q4 e-tron – 24 units. So, stop! Where are the Tesla electric cars?

It turns out that you have to look for them in the list of used electric vehicles sold. And even in this case, the well-known Nissan Leaf still takes the lead (573 units), followed by the Tesla Model 3 (442 units).

They are followed by Volkswagen e-Golf (405 units), Tesla Model Y (255 units), and Renault Zoe (201 units). As you can see, the market is still dominated by used electric vehicles.

However, it is worth noting that the share of new electric vehicles is gradually increasing and currently accounts for almost 20% of the total number of new sales/registrations.
