Hideki Kamiya, who has just recently resigned from PlatinumGames, which he co-founded, created a YouTube channel and explained why he left the company and shared his plans for the future.

I left the company because I wanted to follow my convictions as a game creator and choose the right path to move forward. So I’m not ending my career, I want to keep making games.

He said that he would not be able to work in the gaming industry for the next year due to certain reasons, which most likely stem from his contract with PlatinumGames. He also said that he would be ready to consider any offer from a company that would offer him “100 million yen per year.”

On his YouTube channel, Hideki, as a game creator with 30 years of experience, will be making content completely unrelated to game development. In his video, which, by the way, has English subtitles, he even told a story about cooking curry and watching Netflix and YouTube all day long, so it is likely that he will continue to make similar videos.

Hideki Kamiya started his career in 1994 at Capcom, where he became the director of Resident Evil 2 a few years later, and in 2001 he created Devil May Cry. Between 2004 and 2006, Kamiya worked at Clover Studio, where he developed games such as Viewtiful Joe and Okami. After leaving Clover Studio, he founded his own studio, PlatinumGames, together with Shinji Mikami and Atsushi Inaba, where he created another legendary game, Bayonetta.
