Mac users eager to dive into Baldur’s Gate III won’t have to wait long. Larian Studios has confirmed that the full version of the game will be available on macOS starting September 21. Although the game was already available on Apple’s platform as an early access version, it was only with the first act, which limited the gameplay to about 25 hours. The full release will allow players on Mac to play the game in its entirety.

Baldur’s Gate III was originally launched for Windows PC on August 3, and later released on PlayStation 5. It remains exclusive to PlayStation 5, but not due to an exclusive agreement with Sony Entertainment. Larian Studios faced technical problems that prevented the game from being released simultaneously on Xbox.

Microsoft’s policy is that games for Series S and Series X should have identical features. Larian Studios tried to implement the split-screen feature on the less powerful Series S. However, after negotiations with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, the studio received permission to launch the game on the Series S without the split-screen feature, but with the ability to cross-save between Steam and Xbox. The Xbox version is expected to be released by the end of the year.
