Apple has announced the dates of operating system updates for its gadgets. Mac users will receive macOS Sonoma on September 26, while iPhone and iPad owners will be able to download iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 on September 18, writes AppleInsider.
macOS Sonoma will offer users new screen savers and interactive desktop widgets, improved video conferencing features, an updated Safari browser, and new features for working with PDFs.
Some of the updates are also related to privacy. These include warnings about sensitive content, a lockdown mode, and improved password capabilities to ensure that users’ information is safe.
macOS Sonoma will be available for owners of MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and MacBook Air 2018 and later, as well as for users of iMac 2019 and later.
As for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, the company also promises interesting features. Among them is real-time transcription of voicemail. And also, the StandBy mode. If you turn your smartphone horizontally while charging via MagSafe, this mode will display information on the screen so that it can be seen from a distance.
Another feature is NameDrop. It allows you to instantly share information with another iPhone user by simply bringing one smartphone to another.
Among other things, the update also includes improvements to iMessage, interactive widgets, and security features.
iOS 17 will be compatible with iPhone XR or later, and iPadOS 17 requires an iPad 6th generation or later, iPad mini 5th generation or iPad Pro 11 and 12.9-inch first-generation models.
