Samsung has officially presented the 2nd generation of The Freestyle portable projector at IFA 2023. The novelty has received a number of updates and can turn any surface, both wall and ceiling, into a screen with a diagonal of up to 100 inches.

Compact design

The design of the 2nd generation The Freestyle remains as compact as the The Freestyle. The device weighs only 830 grams, which allows you to carry it in your hand or fit it into a city backpack.

The portable projector is mobile and has several power options: from a wall outlet, using the original portable battery, or power banks with a USB Type-C connector, 50W output and 20V or higher.

This approach allows you to take The Freestyle 2nd Generation with you to a picnic, presentation, or simply move it from one room to another as needed.

Updated platform and quick setup

One of the biggest improvements in The Freestyle 2nd generation was the platform upgrade with an increase to 2 GB of RAM. According to Samsung, this allowed to optimize the software and make the interface 22% faster and the launch of programs 59% faster.

The portable projector’s platform has also been updated to make setup faster and more accurate. The device automatically focuses the image, auto-corrects for keystone distortion to produce a flat, rectangular screen, and ensures proper projection orientation even when the portable projector is not on a horizontal surface.

The smart calibration function, in turn, allows you to optimize the projection based on the wall color to improve image quality.

Smart TV

The 2nd generation Freestyle supports Tizen-based Smart TVs and provides access to popular streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, and others, allowing you to watch content directly from a portable projector without connecting third-party devices.

The Mobile Mirroring mode also allows you to stream content from your smartphone screen to The Freestyle 2nd Generation via the SmartThings app (for Android and iOS) or AirPlay 2 (for Apple devices).

Picture and sound

The 2nd generation Freestyle projects an image from 30 to 100 inches diagonally with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

An update to Samsung’s portable projector is the new 160” Panoramic View feature, which allows you to combine two 2nd generation The Freestyle to create an image with a diagonal of 160 inches (horizontal) or 120 inches (vertical). The combined devices provide full picture synchronization for seamless transition between images. The feature is available for streaming content from a smartphone.

The portable projector has a built-in 5 W speaker that delivers 360° sound.

Environmental friendliness of The Freestyle 2nd generation

The new portable projector has an extended warranty for the light source of 30 thousand hours.

A more robust light source ensures greater durability and reduces waste.

The portable projector comes with a Samsung SolarCell Remote that uses a solar panel for charging, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional remote controls powered by replaceable batteries. The built-in battery lasts for three hours of operation.

The recommended price of the 2nd generation The Freestyle in Ukraine will be UAH 32,999, and the official launch of sales is expected in early October 2023.
