Apple is preparing to launch a significantly updated iPad Pro lineup next year, which will include new 11-inch and 13-inch models as opposed to the current 11-inch and 12.9-inch configurations. The upcoming tablets are expected to be the first in the iPad Pro series to feature OLED displays. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the model numbers of these new devices will be J717, J718, J720, and J721.

The next-generation iPad Pro tablets are expected to be powered by Apple’s new 3nm M3 chip, which promises to deliver even faster speeds and performance. This chip is expected to make the new iPad Pro models one of the fastest tablets on the market.

Apple is also planning to release a new Magic Keyboard accessory to accompany the 2024 iPad Pro models. This new keyboard will have a larger trackpad, which is one of the most common criticisms of the current version. The updated Magic Keyboard aims to make the iPad Pro feel more like a laptop, enhancing its versatility.

The planned update of Apple’s tablet lineup comes at a time when the iPad is experiencing a decline: in the third fiscal quarter, sales fell by 19.8% year-on-year. The company explains this by the fact that consumers do not feel the need to update their tablets as often as smartphones. Despite this, Apple still holds a solid 37% market share in the tablet category.

The upcoming changes to the iPad Pro lineup could potentially revitalize Apple’s tablet business, especially as larger-screen smartphones and foldable devices increasingly reduce demand for tablets. New features and improvements could also make the iPad Pro a more viable option for consumers looking for an alternative to laptops.
