India has successfully landed its Chandrayaan-3 mission on the Moon. This was reported by CNN.

So far, only the United States, the Soviet Union, and China have managed to land on the moon unscathed. Today’s event makes India the fourth country on this list.

As you know, Chandrayaan-3 means “moon car” in Sanskrit. This mission was launched in July by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

The landing site of the mission’s probe is located closer to the south pole of the Moon. This area is considered to be an area of key scientific and strategic interest for space powers, as scientists believe that there may be deposits of water ice.

The previous Chandrayaan-2 mission ended in failure in 2019. Then, due to a software malfunction, the spacecraft crashed into the lunar surface.

On August 19, the Russian automated interplanetary station Luna-25 crashed during a collision with the Moon’s surface.
