Google’s Pixel 8/8 Pro may become the company’s first eSIM-only smartphone. This probability was announced by the famous developer Mishaal Rahman, writes Gizmodo.

He pointed out that the images of the Pixel 8/8 Pro published in March did not show any SIM card slots. He also explained that the images of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 from similar sources showed a SIM card slot. The images of the smartphone from Google are not official, so there is no confirmation of this theory yet.

As you know, Android has been supporting eSIM connections since 2016, although most phones in the ecosystem mainly use Nano SIM. Instead, Apple released the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro last year with eSIM-only support and claimed additional security benefits of such devices.

Earlier, it was reported that the cost of the flagship smartphone Pixel 8 could increase by $50-100 compared to its predecessor. If the Pixel 7 cost $599 at the time of release, the Pixel 8 will have a price tag of $649 or $699.
