UK-based Firefly Studios announced the release of a new demo version of Stronghold: Definitive Edition and discussed the differences between the game and the original real-time strategy game Stronghold, which was released in 2001.
The new demo includes missions 4 and 11 from the original game’s military campaign, as well as a complete guide for new players. The demo will be available for three weeks, until August 29, 2023, and the developers are looking forward to receiving feedback from players.
Stronghold: Definitive Edition is a remake of the original 2001 RTS, sequels and various versions of which have been released by Firefly Studios for over 20 years. The remake features updated graphics, animations, textures, and lighting, Steam multiplayer support, a restored soundtrack, new challenges, and support for user-generated content on the Steam Workshop.
Since 2021, 13 (!) different versions of Stronghold have been released, only three of which are numbered. The last game in the series, Stronghold: Warlords, was received rather coolly by players and had low sales. During the development of this game, Firefly Studios was acquired by Devolver Digital.
Stronghold: Definitive Edition is scheduled for release on November 7, 2023, on Steam only, of course.
