Netflix launches app that turns smartphone into game controller

Netflix has launched a new app that lets subscribers play games on their TVs, writes TechCrunch.

The app is called Netflix Game Controller. It allows you to use your smartphone as a controller after connecting it to your TV to play games available through the service on iOS and Android.

The new application is already available in the App Store. However, there is no news about which games it will support. Instead, the app’s description is just a tease: “Coming soon to Netflix”.

Netflix has already officially announced its plans to move beyond mobile gaming. For example, last fall, Netflix Vice President of Gaming Mike Verdue said that the company was exploring the offering of cloud gaming. He also added that Netflix would be opening a new gaming studio in Southern California.

We would like to remind you that Netflix is introducing a new feature called My Netflix (My Netflix). Its purpose is to make it easier for users to find what they want to watch. In this tab, users can find downloaded and watched movies. It also contains content saved in My List and movies that users have liked.
