Elon Musk took the @X account from its owner, instead of money he got a new nickname
Elon Musk and X, which was called Twitter before the rebranding, took the @Х account from its first user. This is reported by Mashable.
This is the co-owner of Orange Photography, Gene Hwang. He registered an @x account on the platform over 16 years ago. Since Twitter’s rebranding was announced, Gene Hwang has been waiting for action from the platform and the billionaire to resolve the situation. But instead, he received a letter stating the fact that his account is becoming the property of the company.
“I got an email saying they are taking it,” he said.
According to him, the letter came from a general email address support@twitter.com, and not from a specific employee of the company. There was no contact from Gene Hwang or the company prior to this letter. There was also no financial compensation.
Meanwhile, Gene Hwang added that the company offered him an “alternative nickname with @x account history” so that his original account, along with his posts and followers, could continue to be used.
The user was offered an option to consider the @x12345678998765 account. Soon after, Gene Hwang wrote a new tweet under this name.
“All’s well that ends well,” his message said.
