Blizzard shed some light on the content of the first season of Diablo IV, which will start on July 20, 2023.

The first season is called Season of the Malignant and will feature a new seasonal adventure, a new quest line, a boss, a dungeon, a Battle Pass, 6 unique items, 7 legendary aspects and much more.

The new enemies of the season are Malignant monsters, monsters twisted by a new disease, the source of which the player will investigate, helping the former priest of the Cathedral of Light, named Cormond. The monsters will drop a new resource – Malignant Hearts, which can be used in transmutations, receiving various bonuses. The most Hearts can be obtained in new dungeons – Malignant Tunnels. In addition, there you will be able to meet Varshan the Consumed, the new boss.

With the start of Season of the Malignant, players will be able to create seasonal heroes who have the option to skip the Diablo IV campaign and who instantly receive a horse, a map researched previously and already opened Altars of Lilith. After the end of the season, such a character becomes normal and can be used to play in the base world.

A seasonal adventure in Diablo IV, as in Diablo III, is a series of tasks or feats that the hero must complete, receiving additional bonuses.

The first season’s Battle Pass has 90 levels, with 27 free and 63 premium rewards. Duration of Season of the Malignant is 90 days.

Blizzard promised to tell more details about the new season in the next article on July 18.
