Another round of rumors about the Apple Reality Pro mixed reality headset. According to a report by Minsheng Electronics, which provides a detailed breakdown of the cost of each component of the headset, the production of the device costs approximately $1,400. Including delivery, the total cost of making the gadget should be about $1,600.

The most expensive components of the device are microOLED displays, which cost approximately $280-320. Then there are 14 camera modules – $160. The cost of two chips (probably M2) is $120-140. Assembly of the device is estimated at $110-120. Between 400,000 and 500,000 headsets are expected to be produced by the end of 2023.

A report from Wellsenn XR suggests that the device costs $1,509 to manufacture, while two other analyst firms say the cost of production is around $1,290-$1,300. These documents add that mass production of the device will begin in the third quarter of 2023 and that the gadget may be called “Apple Reality Pro”.

XR expert Brad Lynch noted that the production cost of Apple’s headset is roughly double that of the Meta Quest Pro. The latter cost $1,500 at the time of the announcement, but later the price dropped to $999.
