The airline Supernova Airlines, which is part of the Nova Poshta group of companies, performed the first flight on the route Riga- Rzeszow-Riga. This was reported by the press service of Nova Poshta.

The plane delivered 7 tons of international parcels of Nova Poshta customers from Riga International Airport to Rzeszów in Poland. After that, the parcels were sent to Ukraine on trucks.

The first flight was performed in cooperation with the Latvian airline RAF-Avia on the medium-haul ATR 72 turboprop aircraft. This is one of the most popular medium-haul aircraft from the Franco-Italian concern ATR. Supernova Airlines plans to operate flights on the Riga-Rzeszów-Riga route twice a week – every Tuesday and Thursday.

Supernova Airlines was founded in the fall of 2021, and in January 2023 it received an operator’s certificate, the first among Ukrainian companies during a full-scale war.

Despite the war in Ukraine, Supernova Airlines continues to go through all the procedures necessary to carry out regular cargo flights to and from the EU, where the airline’s planes are based during the closure of Ukrainian airspace. It is planned that after the victory, the Ukrainian international airports Boryspil and Lviv will become the base of Supernova Airlines planes.

Creation of their own airlines is a common practice for large postal operators. UPS, DHL and FedEx have them too.
