Sasa Marinkovic, the head of AMD’s gaming marketing division, tweeted about this, who is usually not missing an opportunity to point out the advantages of his company’s products and mock the main competitor.

This time Sasa noted that the gaming experience with Radeon graphics cards equipped with 16 GB of memory can be obtained by spending $499 on the purchase of a graphics adapter. In this case, we are talking about the Radeon RX 6800 16 GB.

Moreover, this model is already being offered at promotional prices starting at $469 on Western online trading platforms.

For comparison, the slide above shows the price tags of competitive models from NVIDIA. Among the GeForce series devices, only the RTX 4080 16 GB with a recommended price tag of $1199 and the RTX 4090 24 GB for $1599 have similar or higher memory capacity. The previous generation tops also meet these criteria – GeForce RTX 3090/3090 Ti 24 GB with current prices of $1000+.

Video cards from AMD with 16 GB of memory already cost less than $500

With the growing demand for graphics card memory capacity in newer, more demanding games, especially for 4K ray-traced modes, models with 16+ GB on board can be at a greater advantage. AMD is using this argument more and more often. What can we say – they can afford it. At the same time, it is obvious that NVIDIA is relying on models with 8-12 GB as part of the current RTX 40xx series in the mid-range segment.

We expect AMD to keep the bar set for the upcoming Radeon RX 7800, and possibly equip the Radeon RX 7700 with a 16GB buffer as well.
