YouTube Premium will soon get support for the SharePlay feature on iOS

Google has announced several changes that will affect YouTube Premium subscribers. One of the main innovations is the appearance of support for the SharePlay function on iOS devices.

Let me remind you, with the help of SharePlay various applications integrate with FaceTime and content is synchronized for all participants in an active current conversation. Users can listen to music and access shared playlists with Apple Music, watch synced TV shows and movies on Apple TV, exercise with Apple Fitness+, and even share their screen with friends and family to plan group trips or troubleshoot devices. The function appeared in 2021 during the pandemic. Currently, SharePlay supports such third-party services as Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu and others. And from now on YouTube Premium.

It can be assumed that SharePlay will work with YouTube in a similar way to the group viewing function in Google Meet. Therefore, only the user who created the video conference will need a YouTube Premium subscription.

Google also added the ability to queue videos on mobile devices for Premium users. Previously, this feature was only available on the web version of YouTube.

Another innovation is the appearance of the option “1080p with higher bitrate” for Premium users on iOS. Google promises that the image will be very clear. At the same time, the company will not reduce the quality of the usual 1080p option.

Premium users on Android, iOS and the web will also be able to easily pick up where they left off on another device. And smart downloads on mobile devices will automatically add recommended videos to your library for offline viewing.
