Probably, everyone at least once became a member of a “one-time” group chat, which is dedicated to some event, for example, the birthday of a work colleague. Once an event has occurred, it usually remains in your chat list. WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that will make it easier for users to leave unwanted chats. The Expiring Groups option was spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp 23.5.0.070 for iOS.

As you can see in the screenshots, the feature can be enabled in the group chat settings. After clicking on it, a pop-up menu appears, which allows you to choose the duration of the chat – one day, one week, or you can set your own period. In the same menu, you can delete the date of the disappearance of the chat, if you decided to save it.

It is worth noting that this setting applies only to your personal messages. If other participants do not enable Expiring Groups, they will remain in the chat and their messages will be visible.
