Competition in the foldable smartphone segment is gaining momentum. At MWC 2023, the relatively small brand Tecno presented the Phantom V Fold model, which closely resembles Galaxy Fold4. At the same time, the price of the device starts at $1,099, which is $700 less than a Samsung smartphone.

The Phantom V Fold gets the Dimensity 9000+ chipset rather than Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line SoC, which partly explains the price difference. RAM is 12 GB, storage capacity is 256/512 GB.

The external display has a diagonal of 6.42″ (versus 6.2″ in Fold4), a resolution of 2550×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The main screen is 7.85″ (versus 7.6″), 2296×2000 pixels, 120 Hz. Tecno claims that the smartphone can withstand up to 200,000 folds.

The battery capacity is 5000 mAh (versus 4400 mAh), 45 W charging is supported (versus 25 W). However, there is no wireless charging in the Tecno smartphone. The camera unit consists of a main 50 MP module, a 50 MP 2x telephoto lens and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. There are also two front cameras: 16 MP on the internal display and 32 MP on the external one.
