The Xiaomi company used the MWC exhibition in Barcelona to present the international versions of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro flagship smartphones, which, in addition to Leica optics, received Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship processors and other interesting specifications.
After the Huawei company actually left the international smartphone market due to sanctions, the Xiaomi company did not miss the opportunity and signed a partnership with Leica. Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro became the company’s first smartphones with optics and a camera application interface from Leica.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro received a Leica Vario-Summicron 1.19-2.2/14-75 ASPH camera system covering focal lengths from 14mm to 75mm and consisting of a 23mm wide-angle main camera with an IMX989 inch sensor, a 75mm floating telephoto camera, and a 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera.
According to Xiaomi, the smartphone’s new 75mm telephoto lens uses a floating lens design to achieve a focal range from 10cm to infinity and is equally suitable for shooting portraits and close-ups. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 13 has an optical zoom range of 0.6x to 3.2x and also features a 75mm telephoto lens.
Both smartphones allow you to manually adjust shooting parameters in professional mode. Xiaomi 13 Pro supports the 10-bit RAW DNG format and color profiles created by Adobe, leaving professionals more options for editing in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
Xiaomi 13 will be available in classic colors – black, white, and green. The smartphone has a design with a flat screen and edges, and only a slightly curved back panel. The screen-to-body ratio in the model, according to Xiaomi, is 93.3%, and the bezels and chin have the same thickness of 1.61mm. Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a 6.36-inch FHD+ AMOLED display.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro, on the other hand, has a ceramic back cover. The device is available in two colors: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black. The smartphone received a larger 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, HBM of 1200 nits, and a peak of 1900 nits.
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro work on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and fast UFS 4.0 file storage. The devices also support Wi-Fi 7 via the Qualcomm FastConnectTM 7800 mobile communication system. The smartphones support the Xiaomi Surge battery management system, which uses Surge’s own charging chip to extend battery life.
Xiaomi promises that the battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh provides the Xiaomi 13 with one day of battery life. The device also supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 13 Pro received a 4820 mAh battery with the HyperCharge function, which provides fast charging up to 120 W. The smartphone charges in just 19 minutes up to 100%.
Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 will offer updates to the next 3 versions of the Android operating system, as well as 5 years of security updates. Users of both devices will also receive a free 6-month trial subscription to Google One cloud storage of up to 2 TB, and 6 months of YouTube Premium with access to YouTube Music.
The Xiaomi 13 series will be available for sale in Europe from March 8, with the Xiaomi 13 8/256GB starting at €999 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro 12/256GB starting at €1,299.
