Bloomberg reports that American electric car manufacturer Rivian is working on creating its own electric bike. CEO Robert Scaringe informed employees about this during a company meeting, noting that a small team is currently working on this project.

Bloomberg adds that it is not yet clear whether Scaringe was talking specifically about a bicycle with a battery or an electric motorcycle. By the way, the head of Rivian hinted at the possibility of creating an electric bike back in October, saying that the company has long-term ambitions for the micro-mobility segment.

Despite all the hype surrounding electric cars, electric bikes will actually outsell electric cars and hybrids in the US as of 2021. And in Europe, by 2030, sales of electric bikes should exceed the number of all cars sold, electric or not. So this segment is really attractive for companies. Especially for Rivian, which continues to look for ways to profitability.
