Sony’s gaming business reported success, as 7.1 million PlayStation 5 consoles were sold in the last quarter. In general – 32.1 million for all time. The good performance between October and December is no surprise – it’s the holiday season and the PS5 is a very popular gift. But the 82% increase in sales is more impressive. During the same period in 2021, only 3.9 million consoles were sold.

The solution to the problem with the production and supply of PlayStation 5 helped a lot. For a long time, the console remained in short supply, but now you don’t have to wait until it goes on sale. The company’s revenue in the “Games and network services” segment amounted to 1.25 trillion Japanese yen ($9.7 billion), an increase of 53%.

Sony has already sold more than 32 million PS5 consoles, over 7 million in the last quarter alone

Sony will be able to hit its PS5 sales forecast for the current fiscal year (March 2022 – March 2023) if the company sells 5.2 million consoles this quarter. Thus, the total number of sold consoles for the fiscal year will be 18 million units (and 37 million for all time).
